Our Core Services

The sudden reality of a SCI or the onset of any physical disability can be frightening and overwhelming. With perseverance and with the right supports, we can help people regain self-reliance and rediscover all that life has to offer.

We help people move forward! We are committed to client-driven, customized responses to the holistic needs of our individual clients, often in partnership with other organizations. Through our Rehabilitation Counselling, we work with clients to articulate needs, clarify and set goals, develop a plan of action and mobilize services. We offer continuous support, Information Services, community links, referrals and follow-up. We also provide support to family members.

Through our Case Management and service coordination, we can coordinate the rehabilitation process including the client service network. We work to ensure clients are provided services that progress toward their long term goals in an efficient, coordinated way from onset of injury or condition to full community participation, and beyond.

Thinking about re-employment, training, education or continued employment? Our Vocational/Employment Services can help explore options consistent with values, skills, abilities and interests. We can help: explore career options, research employers and labour market trends, develop a resume, search for jobs and prepare for interviews. Employer's can use this service to evaluate work site accessibility and job accommodation.

Let's make exclusion history! We want people to live in a community without barriers. In our Community Advocacy we help identify, reduce and remove barriers that exclude people with disabilities and we work to ensure that our clients have access to the right supports and services.

Need to talk to someone who has "been there"? We know the value of Peer Support. We offer positive role models to help individuals and families adjust.

Moncton Solutions Fund

Overview

The Moncton Area Solutions Fund was started in 2009 to help clients of the Canadian Paraplegic Association (N.B.) Inc. by providing some financial help for items that are not fully covered through other services, programs or funding sources. Successful applicants of this Fund will receive a maximum benefit of up to $250 per year towards assistive devices, equipment or related supplies. The Moncton Area Solutions Fund is made possible through a grant provided by the Rick Hanson Foundation in partnership with the Spinal Cord Injury Solutions Network and other donations.

Eligibility Criteria

You can apply to the Moncton Area Solutions Fund to help secure assistive devices, equipment or related supplies. To be eligible for this fund, you must:

The maximum amount available per applicant is $250. You can apply once per year.

Payment of funds is made by the CPA (N.B.) Inc. directly to the supplier of the approved item.

Application Process

You must complete the Moncton Area Solutions Fund Application Form which is available through the Moncton Rehabilitation Counsellor. The application form will require information, including:

Two estimates for the requested item(s) must be provided, when possible, with the Application Form.

Review Process

The completed application form and estimates will be forwarded to the CPA (N.B.) Inc. Solutions Fund Review Committee for review. This committee meets, as needed, on a monthly basis. The Moncton Rehabilitation Counsellor will be asked to participate in part of this meeting to respond to any questions the Committee may have. A decision to approve or deny the application is made by the Committee. Decisions will be provided to you within 10 business days of the monthly meeting. Should another funding source be identified by the Committee, the application is put on hold while this option is explored. If the other possible solution is not successful, the Moncton Rehabilitation Counsellor will advise the Committee and the Committee will then make a decision. You will receive a copy of the reviewed application form approving or denying your application and giving the reason for any denial. Payment arrangements will be made by the Moncton Rehabilitation Counsellor.

Evaluation

All applicants are asked to return a short evaluation to CPA (N.B.) Inc. within 90 days of receiving funding or a notice of denial. You can get an extension, if necessary, by contacting the Moncton Rehabilitation Counsellor. Your feedback is important to help CPA (N.B.) Inc. make future improvements to the Moncton Area Solutions Fund, and to give potential donors some insight into how the program may help the clients of our organization. All personal and identifying information regarding the grant recipient will remain confidential.
